Upcoming Programs, Seminars and Conferences for Lawyers

Regulation of Product and Service Sales in the U.S.
March 5 - 7, 2012; Washington, D.C.
This short seminar and conference will bring together leading U.S. and international lawyers for two days of immersion in the wide scope of regulations affecting product and service sales in the U.S.

U.S. Legal English
July 5 - 14, 2012; Washington, D.C.
An intensive 10-day program introducing non-U.S. participants to U.S. Legal English and, in particular, to those terms and usages most relevant and useful to a non-U.S. lawyer or law professional.  Participants often go on to complete the “U.S. Legal Methods: Introduction to U.S. Law” program, which begins immediately after the Legal English program.

U.S. Legal Methods: Introduction to U.S. Law
July 15 - August 9, 2012; Washington, D.C.
An intensive four-week certificate program open to non-U.S. lawyers and advanced law students. Topics covered include all major aspects of U.S. law and the U.S. legal system. Participants from this course often go on to graduate study at top U.S. law schools. Others return to the practice of law in their respective countries with a better understanding of U.S. law and the ability to work better with U.S. lawyers, law firms and government agencies.

Advanced Corporate Transactions
August 8 - 11, 2012; Washington, D.C.
Seminar and conference covering a broad spectrum of advanced corporate transaction topics including current laws, trends and techniques relating to M & A, international joint ventures, private equity, bankruptcy and restructuring, and the ongoing global financial and debt crisis.

Alternative Dispute Resolution
August 5 - 8, 2012 (live on-site part); Washington, D.C.; (Internet video streaming part provided after August 8)
Seminar familiarizes participants with alternative methods of dispute resolution. It approaches mediation and conflict management as a way of avoiding or resolving litigation and of addressing relationships in business with employees, customers and suppliers. The seminar then examines the legal issues involved in arbitration and the arbitral process, addressing domestic US arbitration, international commercial arbitration and international investment arbitration.
